PJ Camargo releases “Alma Pura”: a dive into contemporary jazz and minimalist soundscapes

A sensory journey that transforms data, emotion, and textures into living music.

Brasília-based musician and composer PJ Camargo, with over 15 years of experience, presents his latest original work: "Alma Pura". Produced by Sidney Campos, and featuring acclaimed musicians Marcus Ben (bass) and Tuca Lima (drums) – known for collaborations with artists such as Jorge Vercillo and Marlene Souza Lima – the album marks a new artistic chapter in PJ’s career.

Comprising 10 original tracks, the project explores the intersection of jazz, indie jazz, modern jazz, and Latin jazz, blending refined influences from artists like Aaron Parks, Nils Kugelmann, Esperanza Spalding, and Chico Pinheiro.

"Alma Pura" embraces a minimalist sound approach, focusing on the organic interaction of just three instruments: guitar, bass, and drums — creating rich sonic textures and dynamic contrasts.

With over 15 years of professional experience, Brasília-based musician PJ Camargo is known for his versatility, originality, and refined sound. A prize-winning composer, producer, and educator, PJ is a standout in Brazil’s contemporary jazz scene.

He performs over 30 shows per month, blending jazz, indie jazz, modern jazz, and Latin jazz into immersive sonic experiences.

PJ is also the founder of Sarene (a music curation agency for restaurants), Sleaf (a label supporting local artists), and Canto Novo (a music education institute).
